Sleek, hi-tech imagery and technique
It was probably our biggest challenge at the turn
of the millennium. Not the Y2K bug. The Cyberport CD-ROM. Produced
by the Information Technology and Broadcasting Bureau of Hong Kong,
it was intended as a marketing tool for attracting prospective tenants
from IT hotspots around the world.
As a multimedia showcase of the ultimate IT mecca,
it was by default the most prestigious project in the industry.
And Netvertizing had landed it. But how were we going to portray
something that didn't yet exist?
In a testament to rare prowess and flair, we conjured
up a distinctly hi-tech look-and-feel using images suspended in
a 3D environment. The text was likewise rendered as holograms, the
display of which could be controlled via clicks or drags. A unique
"force feedback" feature, developed using our own algorithms,
completed the real-life 3D sensation. 10, 9, 8.......and we had
a lift-off.
